Vision is a precious gift, but not everyone is fortunate enough to experience it. Approximately 2.2 billion people around the world suffer from vision impairment, with cataract blindness being a major contributor. The good news is that cataract blindness is treatable. However, despite the availability of effective treatment, many still suffer due to Billionaire philanthropist Tej Kohli  inadequate medical infrastructure and financial constraints.

Billionaire philanthropist Tej Kohli and renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit have joined forces to tackle this global challenge. Here’s a look at their foundation’s remarkable achievements:

  • The foundation has screened over 142,000 patients and successfully treated more than 17,000 for cataract blindness.
  • Their primary focus is on underserved communities in developing countries, where access to medical care is limited and financial resources are scarce.
  • Beyond providing treatment, the foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about available medical options and facilities. They work with international organizations, including the United Nations, and have partnered with the Evening Standard to share their mission and build global awareness.
  • To further their reach, the foundation has established 52 outreach camps worldwide, offering support to those in need.
  • They have also collaborated with eight hospitals to expand their efforts and enhance their impact.

While the foundation has achieved significant milestones, their journey is far from over. By 2030, in collaboration with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, they aim to cure 500,000 cases of blindness, continuing their mission to bring sight to those in need.
